Ocilion Red Dot Award

Red Dot Award for ocilion.

The P400 Set Top Box family from Ocilion was awarded the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020, one of the highest international prizes in design competitions. The homogeneous P400 product line (P420, P450, P470 & P480) completely convinced the 40-member jury in the “TV & Home Entertainment” category. The set top boxes are characterized by their uniform design and a clear design language: straightforward and visually unobtrusive, the set top boxes convey a clear picture of their high technical performance and equipment, which are contained in the compact housing. A smart LED bar is incorporated into the front, which gives the user feedback using various animations. The housings were designed to be very functional for different mounting options. A suitable cable cover can be used in hotels, for example, to prevent guests from accidentally pulling out cables.

Each model of the P400 product line is a perfectly shaped piece of design with a clear identity that fits into any environment. Ocilion developed the design together with the design agency D’Andrea & Evers.

Hans Kühberger, Managing Director of Ocilion IPTV Technologies: “Receiving the renowned Red Dot Award confirms our work and our claim to offer our customers the best of innovation, design, functionality and effectiveness in one product line. The jury was won over by the P400 product family with its uniform design and consistent hardware for all application scenarios."

About the P400 set-top box family

The homogeneous P400 family consists of four models, all of which are 4K-capable and bring brilliant pictures in Ultra HD and HDR to the television. Despite the high performance, great importance was attached to designing the hardware to be particularly energy-saving, so that the housings do not have any ventilation slots. Thanks to the modular system, Ocilion can serve all common network infrastructures (HFC, FTTH, VDSL, OTT). This fulfills all the requirements of network operators who receive a complete IPTV system environment including content rights and an app platform. The four set top boxes have identical software, which means that the models can be supplied with updates quickly and easily at the same time.

Network operators can choose between three models: The P420 is particularly suitable for use in a pure IP environment. Two hybrid models (DVB-C / IP) with eight tuners are available for cable network operators: The P480 includes an integrated cable modem, the P470 uses the end customer's existing cable modem for IP distribution.

For buildings with existing Ethernet cabling (hotels, hospitals, company buildings, etc.), the P450 including a Gigabit Ethernet switch and PoE supply was developed. The P480 can also be used for coaxial infrastructures in this segment.
