Ried im Innkreis, 10 December 2024 - ORF and ocilion have entered into a long-term cooperation for the distribution of ORF ON on the IPTV platform. This agreement means that numerous other local and regional network operators in Austria can now offer their end customers access to ORF's extensive video-on-demand offering on their TV sets as a new service. In addition, numerous ORF streams will also be available to other network operators in Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.
Dr Harald Kräuter, ORF Director of Technology and Digitalisation: ‘With this new cooperation, ORF is continuing its strategy of making its streaming services available via ORF ON not only on the web, smartphones and tablets, but also on other platforms and end devices. With ocilion as a partner, we will be able to reach customers of many local and regional network operators and thus enable them to use our content on their flat screens as well.’
Thomas Bichlmeir, Chief Product Officer at ocilion: ‘It is a very strong signal to our customers that we have been able to reach this comprehensive agreement with a major partner such as ORF. We are thus bringing this high-quality and diverse programme content on demand via app to our IPTV platform in the long term. This cooperation underlines our strategy of offering all relevant content for users in both linear and non-linear formats.’
